Prince Frederick, MD and All of Calvert County and Surrounding Areas
Remove overgrown brush and unwanted vegetation with professional service from JD’s Landscaping. We safely clear your property, leaving the area clean, neat, and ready to use
Our brush removal service clears overgrown brush, briars, vines and small saplings from Maryland yards, fence lines and lots, then hauls it all away or leaves it cut and piled on your property. You pick which.
Most people call us once the brush has already won. A fence line buried under briars. A back lot nobody has walked into in years. A house you just bought where the last owner stopped mowing two summers ago. A weekend with loppers won’t fix any of those, and that’s where we come in.
JD’s Landscaping & Junk Trash Removal is a family-owned business based at 207 Oakland Hall Road in Prince Frederick, clearing Maryland properties since 2018 with more than 15 years of hands-on experience. We also run junk removal trucks, so the same crew that clears the brush can haul away the old tires, rotted fence panels and anything else that turns up underneath.
Most jobs combine two or three of these, and you get one quote for the whole job.
For yards that went a season or two without care, or a property that hasn’t seen maintenance in years. We open the space back up so you can mow it, landscape it or just walk across it.
One of our most common jobs. Brush along a property line grows fast, and nobody notices until the fence is buried or the line is hard to find. We clear to the fence or boundary, not past it, so you are never cutting on a neighbor’s side.
Wooded edges, tree lines and the scrubby band between your yard and the woods. We cut vines off the trees, fences and sheds you want to keep, so they stop pulling them down.
Much of the brush that swallows Maryland fence lines isn’t native. Multiflora rose and Japanese honeysuckle form thick, thorny tangles that come back hard if they are only cut at the top. Native greenbrier and poison ivy spread just as fast along field edges. We cut them down low and tell you honestly what will grow back and when. [CONFIRM WITH JD: add other species he clears often, such as wineberry or English ivy.]
Clearing ahead of a fence, a shed, a landscape design project or just so you can see a part of your property before deciding what to do with it. The same crew can often carry the project into its next step.
We can load the brush out the same day so the area is clean right away, or cut it and leave it piled where you want it. Many brush removal contractors only offer one or the other. Hauling uses our own junk removal trucks, so there is no second contractor to schedule.
We match the method to the site. Hand tools handle the detail work around fences, structures and keeper trees. Machines handle larger open areas and heavy growth, where hand clearing would take days. Most jobs use both.
If your property is within 1,000 feet of tidal water, clearing brush may need approval first. That land falls inside Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, and the rules apply statewide.
Within 100 feet of the water’s edge, an area called the Buffer, clearing natural vegetation is tightly restricted and grading is generally not allowed. The Buffer can be wider near steep slopes or wetlands.
Elsewhere in the Critical Area, clearing is usually allowed, but removing woodland can require replanting.
Outside the Critical Area, routine brush removal on a home lot usually doesn’t need a permit.
Tell us when you call if your property is near the Bay or a tidal river. We flag it during the walkthrough and point you to your county’s planning and zoning office before anything is cut. In Calvert County, that’s Planning and Zoning at 410-535-1600. A contractor who clears first and asks later leaves you holding the mitigation order.
With haul-away, we load the brush and take it to a licensed yard debris facility, so it is gone the same day. Yard debris rules are set county by county in Maryland. Here’s how it works in Calvert County, where most of our loads go.
Calvert County treats brush, branches, bushes, stumps and leaves as yard debris. It goes to the Appeal Landfill in Lusby, branches must be cut to six feet or shorter, and the fee is charged by weight. Commercial trucks like ours can only drop off at Appeal, not at the neighborhood convenience centers. That’s why hauling brush yourself usually means a trailer, a chainsaw and a landfill fee.
If you keep the brush on site, ask about burning before you light anything. The Maryland Department of the Environment bans open burning from June 1 through September 1 each year in much of Central and Southern Maryland, including Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and Prince George’s counties. Outside that window, county rules still apply. In Calvert County, burns can only start after 4 p.m., must be watched the whole time and must be out by midnight, and a permit may be required.
Whether it’s a full landscape design or just getting the beds back under control, the first step is the same. We look at the property, tell you honestly what it needs, and send a written estimate within 24 hours.

JD's Landscaping & Junk Trash Removal proudly offers special discounts to our veterans, active military personnel, and first responders.
Late fall through winter is the best time to clear large or overgrown lots in Maryland. The leaves are down, so you can see the fence and the ground. The soil is firmer. Ticks and poison ivy are far less of a problem.
Spring is good for catching new growth early and clearing ahead of summer projects.
Summer brings the fastest regrowth, so a fence line cleared in June may need a second pass by September. If waiting a few months would save you a visit, we’ll tell you.
Storms don’t follow a season. We clear downed limbs and flattened brush whenever they come down, and our phone is answered 24 hours a day.
That’s what the walkthrough is for. We look at the property with you and tell you plainly what it needs.

New homeowners who want to see what they actually bought.
Sellers and real estate agents who need a lot that looks bigger and cared for before a listing date.
Landlords and families settling an estate with a property that sat empty for a season or two. Our estate cleanout service can handle the inside at the same time.
Waterfront owners who need brush work planned around the Critical Area rules.
Homeowners starting a project, like a fence, shed, garden or new beds.
HOAs and commercial properties with overgrown common areas, pond edges and lot borders, scheduled around business hours
Brush removal cost depends on four things: the size of the area, how thick the growth is, the method the site needs, and whether you choose haul-away or leave on site. A single fence line is a small job. Several overgrown acres take more days, a bigger crew and more loads.
Family-owned and local. We are based on Oakland Hall Road in Prince Frederick. When you call, you talk to the people who do the work.

We check the rules first. Critical Area limits, burn rules and disposal requirements. Mistakes there become your problem, so we look before we cut.
One crew for the whole job. Clearing, hauling and the landscaping that comes next, without three contractors and three invoices.
Fast estimates. Send photos and get a real number within 24 hours.
Satisfaction guaranteed. If the job isn’t right, we come back and make it right.
Discounts for those who serve. Veterans, active-duty military and first responders get a discount on every job
We are based in Prince Frederick and take brush removal jobs in these Maryland communities:
Prince Frederick is home base and our fastest response area.
Dunkirk and Huntingtown have larger, older lots where brush builds up along back fence lines until nobody remembers where the line is.
Chesapeake Beach and North Beach have many properties close to the Bay, where Critical Area rules shape the job.
St. Leonard and Solomons lean toward wooded lots, where the work is usually pushing the tree line back to open up yard space.
Annapolis, Leonardtown and La Plata are also on our list.
Not sure if we reach your address? Call (301) 835-9340 and we’ll tell you right away.
They describe the same work. Brush removal stresses taking the material away, and brush clearing stresses cutting back and opening up the area. We do both, and you choose whether the brush leaves or stays.
Your choice. We can load it all out the same day, or cut it and leave it piled on site. The price reflects the option you pick.
Small saplings come out as part of brush removal. Full-size trees are a separate job, because Maryland’s Tree Expert Law requires a Licensed Tree Expert for paid tree care and removal on trees over 20 feet tall. We scope those as tree removal and tell you up front.
Routine brush removal on most home lots doesn’t need a permit. Properties within 1,000 feet of tidal water likely fall inside Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, where clearing can require approval or replanting. Check with your county’s planning and zoning office before work begins.
Some will. Invasive plants like multiflora rose and Japanese honeysuckle regrow from their roots, and most brush creeps back from the edges. Regular mowing of the cleared area is the easiest way to keep it open, and we’ll tell you what to expect for your property. [CONFIRM WITH JD: if he offers follow-up visits, add: “We can also schedule a follow-up visit to cut back regrowth.”]

A fence line or small section is often done in one day. Larger or thicker lots can take several days. Your written estimate includes a realistic timeline.
Yes, it’s one of our most common jobs. We clear to the line so the fence is visible again, without cutting onto a neighbor’s property.
No firm limit. We clear anything from one fence line to several overgrown acres. Bigger jobs take more time, which shows in the estimate.
Yes.
